Abstract
1,098,184. Registration marks on film. SIDNEY R. LITTLEJOHN & CO. Ltd. April 23, 1965 [April 7, 1964], No. 14360/64. Heading G2A. A film L is located on a work-table C, the table having a pair of exposure housings Q slidably mounted above it so as to photo-print register markings on the edge of the film. The housings are mounted to slide along parallel shafts H, which shafts themselves can slide in a further direction at right angles. Screws are provided for locking the slides in any desired position. Fig. 2 (not shown) is a more detailed view of the housing (Q), showing how light from a lamp (AK) passes down a tube (T). At the bottom of the tube (T) is mounted a rotatable ring (AB), to the underside of which is fixed a graticule (AG) carrying negative and positive marks (AI) and (AJ) Fig. 3 (not shown). The ring is eccentrically mounted, so that it can be rotated to bring either mark on to the exposure axis (AH). Each housing has a handle AF by means of which it can be rotated on shaft H so that it is out of contact with film D (right hand side of Fig. 1) while the normal exposure is made. It is then rotated so as to be in contact with the film (left hand side of Fig. 1) for exposure to the registration mark. Such marks are useful for accurate registration of a plurality of films, as for example in colour printing.
