Abstract
1097886 Preventing furnace corrosion COMBUSTION ENGINEERING Inc 24 Sept 1965 [26 Oct 1964] 40862/65 Headings C5G G10B and G11 Corrosion of the high temperature heat exchange surfaces of a steam generator, particularly a coal-fired furnace, is reduced or prevented by spraying the surfaces with a dry mixture of a corrosion retardant and sodium tetraborate as an adhesion promoting agent. The preferred corrosion retardant is MgO 2 . Other alkaline earth oxides, or compounds producing alkaline earth oxides or thermal decomposition may be used.
