[Also in Division E2] A fastener comprises a strip 1 of resilient flexible material having an aperture 4 adjacent one end and a series of projections along the length of the strip the strip being intended to be looped around two or more members to be secured together and the shape of the said aperture and the projections being such that the end portion 2 of the strip remote from said aperture is adapted to be passed therethrough and the loop tightened around the member to be secured, the end portion of the strip being prevented from passing back through said aperture by engagement of two of said projections against the periphery of the aperture, the aperture adjacent one end of the fastening having a relatively wide central section 5 and two relatively narrower end section 6, while adjacent the opposite end of the fastener the latter has a relatively enlarged connection portion 9 located between two relatively narrow neck portions 7 the neck portions being capable of fitting into the said end sections of the said aperture and the said connection portion having a length greater than the length of the said central section of the aperture and a width equal to or slightly greater than the width of said aperture central section. The connection portion 9 and the end section 6 of the strip enable two strips to be joined together by bowing the connection portion 9 and passing it through the central portion 5 of the aperture and then releasing the bowed portion the resilience of the strip material then causing the neck portions 7 on each side of the portion 9 to slide into the end sections 6 of the aperture. As described the strip is made of polyvinyl chloride and the fastener is intended for use as a plant tie.
