Abstract
109,613. Labedan, J. B. Sept. 14, 1916, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Inking-apparatus. - An inking-roller for inking the engraved cylinders of paper staining or printing machines, comprises an elastic extensible and collapsible roller covered by a sleeve of felt. The extending or expanding means may be pneumatic or mechanical. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the felt sleeve h is on an elastic rubber cover d secured at the ends by rings e to a wood or metal body a and inflatable through a valve and passages g so that it may be expanded to grip the sleeve h. End disks b secured to the body a have conical sockets b<1> for the pivots on which the roller rotates. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the felt sleeve h is on a thick elastic cover d held on the divided body by elastic rings e<2>. The body is formed by a series of segments a<2>, a<3> &c. and may be expanded by the conical shafts or pivots c forced into the conical ends of the bore a<1>.
