Abstract

Paper has uniformly distributed through it 1-cyanoacetamide, to reduce loss of strength with time at high temperatures in contact with a fluid dielectric impregnant. The stabilizing compound may be applied to paper at a size press between first and second drier sections of a paper-making machine. Synthetic resins, e.g. phenolic, epoxy, acrylic or dialyl phthalate resins may also be incorporated in the beating of the pulp or later from organic solution. The present stabilizing compound may be used alone or in combination with those of Specifications 938,479 and 1,082,614 or U.S.A. Specification 3,102,159.
