[Also in Division H2] A controlled rectifier conduction control arrangement comprises a source of conduction control signals CA connected to at least one bidirectional gate fed by the secondary winding 7 of a first transformer and to supply an output to the primary winding 6 of a second transformer having a secondary winding 5 connected by means of rectifiers D26, D27 to operate a gate T, T2 in the control input circuit of a controlled rectifier, the primary winding of the first transformer receiving the output of an oscillator 2 which oscillator also feeds the gate T1, T2, through the secondary winding 4 of the first transformer. Rectifying diodes D1, D2, D3, D4 pass the positive rectified signal of the rectangular waveform from the oscillator to transistor T1 and the negative rectified signal to T2. Normally Tr1 in the bi-directional switch is non-conducting and T2 is conducting making the controlled rectifier R non-conducting. When a pulse appears from source CA, Tr1 conducts allowing signals to pass through the second transformer, to be rectified and applied to the gate T1, T2 causing T1 to conduct and T2 to cease conducting, the signal passing through T1 causing the rectifier R to conduct.
