Abstract

The invention comprises 6-alkyldibenzo[1,2,5] thiadiazepine, 5,5-dioxides of the general formula <FORM:1093186/C2/1> wherein R3 represents H or one or two substituents selected from halogen, Me, CF3 and C1- 4 alkoxy, alkylthio and alkylsulphonyl groups, R6 represents a C1- 4 alkyl or a benzyl group, and R9 represents H, halogen, Me,CF3, NMe2 or SO2NH2, or an alkoxycarbonyl, alkylthio alkylsulphonyl, alkoxy or alkanoyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms. These compounds are prepared by cyclization of compounds of the general formula <FORM:1093186/C2/2> (wherein R represents H or a C1- 3 alkyl group). Compounds containing an ethylthio substituent may be prepared by reacting corresponding bromo-substituted compounds with cuprous ethyl mercaptide, and may be oxidized to the corresponding ethylsulphonyl compounds. 2 - Acylamino - N - alkyl (or benzyl) - 21-halobenzenesulphonanilides of the second general formula above are prepared according to the following reaction scheme (wherein X represents Cl, Br or I) <FORM:1093186/C2/3> <FORM:1093186/C2/4> <FORM:1093186/C2/5> <FORM:1093186/C2/6> <FORM:1093186/C2/7> <FORM:1093186/C2/8>
