Abstract

1,092,509. Control of A.C. loads. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept. 28, 1966 [Oct. 23, 1965], No. 43343/66. Heading H2H. A circuit for the cascade energization of a number of loads 5<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP>, 21<SP>1</SP> &c. comprises in series with each load a triac or reverse parallel connected thyristors fired by a transformer 3<SP>1</SP>, 26, in series with the previous load. In this way the heat dissipation of the master control circuit is minimised. The transformers are preferably of the high-frequency and/or saturating type to reduce the series impedance and may carry a plurality of pairs of secondary windings. Other arrangements are described in the Specification utilizing diacs or quadiacs. The loads 5<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP> should comprise a plurality of individual loads to avoid losing control through an open circuit.
