Abstract

1,092,495. Pad applicators. G. SCHWARTZMAN. June 21, 1966 [Feb. 16, 1966], No. 27656/66. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B8] A fluid applicator comprising a cylindrical body portion 18 which is insertable into the neck 12 of a fluid container and which is integral with a valve assembly 26 is provided with a cover 16 which is snapped into connection with the body portion 18 and which comprises a resilient porous member 48 attached to a disc 42 having a hole 44 therethrough, the valve assembly so co-operating with the hole that fluid from the container is prevented from passing through the hole except when the porous member 48 is subjected to pressure during use of the applicator (Fig. 5, not shown). The valve assembly 26 comprises resilient helical supports 24 and a valve head 28 which may be provided with a gasket arrangement (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) for purposes of sealing the applicator prior to its initial use. The applicator may be made from polyethylene except for the member 48 which is preferably of polyurethane foam.
