In an adjustment for height for scaffolding comprising a screw threaded rod 10 having a socket 11 at one end to receive a scaffold pole 100, the other end engaging in another. pole 101 which rests on an adjustable screw threaded collar 19 engaging the screw thread of the rod 10, the collar has a centering spigot engaging in the end of the tube 101. The poles may have end plates 26, 103 having co-axial apertures to permit entry of further scaffold poles.
