Abstract

1,090,613. Power measurement. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Aug. 5, 1964 [Oct. 21, 1963], No. 41403 / 63. Heading G1U. A power meter adapted to measure power at any frequency up to 1000 Mc/s includes a heater 2 in the form of a very thin walled tubular conductor through which the power is passed and which constitutes the centre conductor of a length of slab transmission line. The conductor is insulated from but close to a thermal converter such as a thermocouple or thermistor, whose leads are brought out of the transmission line in the median plane thereof,_so producing minimum disturbance of the field within the line. The length of line is dimensioned and tapered to present a characteristic impedance particular to the line in which the measuring apparatus is to be inserted. The thin walled tubular conductor takes the form of a gold deposit on an insulating glass core.
