Abstract

1,090,052. Edge-runner mills. RICHARDS STRUCTURAL STEEL CO. Ltd. Sept. 17, 1965 [Oct. 1, 1964], No. 39916/64. Heading B2A. In a mulling and mixing machine for foundry sand &c. comprising a muller assembly 15 rotatable in pan 11, the muller assembly having muller wheels 18 and plough blades, the pan is provided with a discharge opening 19 which can be partially or wholly closed by means of an adjustable weir plate 20 and sand is continuously fed to the machine by means of a hopper 24 having at its discharge end a metering gate 25 disposed above an endless conveyor belt 26. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the feeding means comprise a hopper with a control gate which delivers sand to the pan via a vibratable shoot. In a further modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), two mulling machines are arranged in tandem. In another modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), three or more mulling machines are arranged in cascade.
