Abstract

1,089,950. Ladders. N. A. RABELOS. Feb. 1, 1966, No. 4473/66. Heading A6L. A convertible long and step ladder comprises a main section 16 having brackets 40, 42 carrying a rod 38 adapted to engage in one of a number of pairs of notches 36 in an auxiliary ladder section 26 in which the rod is maintained when the ladder is used as a step ladder by a hook 56 pivoted on the rod 38 and engaging a rung 30 on the ladder section 26. When used as an ordinary step ladder the rod engages the top pair of notches and lugs 48 on the end of the brackets 40, 42 engaging the outer side of the auxiliary ladder section, also maintain this engagement. For use on stairs the auxiliary section is slid through the brackets and the rod engaged with a suitable pair of notches. For use as a long ladder the auxiliary section is slid between the rod 38 and the main section and held in position by a hook from the main section. A metal ladder is shown and pivoted hooks 64 for carrying buckets.
