Abstract
1,089,606. Positive clutches. AUTOMOBILWERK EISENACH, VEB. July 2, 1966, No. 29789/66. Heading F2C. In a friction synchronized positive clutch wherein initial movement of a slidable shift sleeve 6 splined at 7 to a hub 4 fast with a shaft 1 acts through spring-pressed balls 17 and pins 15 carried by synchronizing rings 12, 13 to move the latter into engagement with coned friction surfaces 10, 11 on gears 2, 3, relative rotation between the rings 12, 13 and hub 4 moves collars 16 of the pins 15 into recesses (Fig. 3, not shown) in the splines 7 to baulk further movement of the sleeve 6 and engages the inner ends of the pins 15 with cam surfaces 18, 19 on the hub 4 to provide an additional axial force on the rings 12, 13. At synchronism the force on the sleeve 6 moves the pins 15 out of the recesses in the splines and slides the sleeve 6 axially to engage teeth 8, 9 on the gears 2, 3. The pins 15 are carried by axially extending lugs 14 on the rings 12, 13.
