1,087,981. Making pneumatic tyre bead wires; rolling annular bodies. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Aug. 7, 1964 [Aug. 28, 1963], No. 33976/63. Headings B3A and B3M. [Also in Division B7] A method of manufacturing a pneumatic tyre bead wire comprises forming an annular billet having a volume equal to that of the finished wire and rolling the billet to form a bead wire of the required dimensions. The billet is formed by cutting a predetermined length from a steel tube. The billet is cold rolled, each portion thereof passing several times between the rolls. Alternatively the billet may be hot rolled.
