Abstract

The invention provides mono-azo dyes of general formula <FORM:1087665/C4-C5/1> in which R1 is an unsubstituted alkyl radical, R2 is an alkyl radical which may be substituted by halogen, and halogen means a chlorine or bromine atom. The dyes are made by diazotizing an amine of formula see below and coupling with a compound of formula see below <FORM:1087665/C4-C5/2> <FORM:1087665/C4-C5/3> The dyes give violet colours when applied to synthetic and semi-synthetic materials.
