Abstract
1,086,582. Abrading. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Jan. 5, 1965 [Jan. 22, 1964], No. 426/65. Heading B3D. A system for the circulation of an abrasive in suspension in a liquid, such as water, more particularly for ultrasonic machining devices comprises a tank 1 with a convex conical base 2, means for projecting an abrasive therein firstly at the top of the tank by at least two adjustable nozzles 19, 20 and secondly at the top of the cone formed by the base by a conical rose 23, the supply conduits for the abrasive being connected to a distributer 12 which is symmetrically fed at its two ends from a pump delivery 9, another two conduits 25, 26 also being connected to the bottom of the conical part of the tank so that abrasive can return to the pump inlet. The arrangement of the parts of the system prevents any deposition of the abrasive at the bottom of the parts making up the system. The tank has a lower part 1 formed with the convex conical base 2 and an upper part 3 having a plurality of swivel joints 21 for supporting the nozzles 19, 20 which direct the abrasive in suspension to a workpiece placed or secured on a holder 5 supported by lugs 4 on the walls of the tank. The nozzles 19, 20 and the rose 23 which has apertures 24 on its underside are connected by separate conduits to the distributer 12, each end of which is separately connected by conduits 11 to the delivery 9 of a pump 6 having a rubber stator and worm.
