Abstract

1,086,443. Cigarettes. J. A. E. BELL, J. D. JONES and D. H. LAING. May 3, 1966, No. 19369/66. Heading A2C. A cigarette or cigar is provided with a part E comprising tightly packed tobacco 10 surrounding at least one column 12 having no tobacco or loosely packed tobacco, the part E being joined to a filter 14. The flow resistance of the tobacco 10 is at least two and a half times that of a conventional U.S.A. cigarette whilst that of the column(s) 12 is less. The crosssectional area of the column(s) 12 is not more than a quarter of the cross-section of the cigarette. The overall resistance to flow of the cigarette is similar to that of a conventional U.S.A. cigarette.
