[trading as FIRMA BRAN & LUBBE] March 1, 1965 [March 13, 1964], No.8668/65. Heading G1A. Oil traces in a liquid are determined by comparing, with photo-resistances 19, 39, the light beams reflected and refracted from the surface of the liquid the level of which is maintained in a container 11 by an overflow arrangement 30. Filters 20, 40 are disposed in front of the photoresistances and a diaphragm 41 also. The resistance 30 may, alternatively, be located at the side of the container 11 to receive light from the refracted beam after scattering. The photoresistances are connected in a bridge circuit. The test liquid may be a steam engine condensate which may be injected in a direction parallel to the face of the photo-resistor 39.
