Abstract

1,083,913. Automatic torque control. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G. m. b. H. Jan. 6, 1965, No. 549/65. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] Gearing 3 is tested by coupling machines 1, 4, to the input and output shafts respectively, both machines being supplied from Ward Leonard generator 9, and a booster 2 being connected in series with the machine 1. The torque transmitted by the machine 1 is altered when the ratio of the gearing is changed, a signal representing this torque being compared with a reference signal so that the excitation of the booster 2 is regulated in a corrective sense. If the voltage control range of the booster is exceeded, a signal derived from a resistor in shunt with the booster is applied to amplifiers 5, 6, whereby the machine 1 or 4 which should operate at a higher speed, in accordance with the new gear ratio, has its field weakened.
