Abstract

1,083,577. Exhaust silencers. F.H. KYFFIN. Nov. 4, 1964 [Aug.29, 1963], No.54322/63. Heading F1B. A silencer comprises an inlet pipe 14 with a closed end 15, one or more return flow pipes 20 and an outlet flow pipe 21. Pipe 14 opens into chamber 27 through apertures 16 and the gases flow through pipe 20, passing through resonance chamber 26, to chamber 25 from which they flow through the outlet pipe 21. In Fig. 10 (not shown) the return flow pipe 20 is formed by a U-shaped member attached to pipe 21.
