Abstract

1,083,544. Packages; bags. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. Nov. 13, 1964 [Nov. 13, 1963], No. 46319/64. Headings B8C and B8K. A dispensing package for absorbent fibre balls comprises a bag of a flexible sheet material, preferably polyethylene film, having a dispensing opening therein so that a ball may be positioned beneath the opening by squeezing the bag. In a flexible bag formed from a single sheet, a removable part 19 bounded by perforations to define an opening is formed prior to filling. The bag is sealed after filling, the opposite seam 15 having a suspension hole 16 therein and being formed from four layers of the bag held in position by a heat seal 20. The balls, which are of uniform diameter greater than the diameter of the opening, are positioned under the opening and removed when required by squeezing the bag, four pressure relief valves 22 being provided in pairs at opposite comers of the bag. The valves are each formed by partially punching out a portion which acts as a flutter valve to prevent large particles entering the bag:
