In a tongue and fork connection for mine roof support bars 1 the tongue and 8 is provided with a hooked-shaped construction 12 on each of its roof-shaped chamfers whilst the locking wedge 4 has a trough-shaped recess 4b at its thinner end for co-operation therewith, i.e. to permit pivoting of the cup 8 upwards until the articulating pin 6 can be inserted through the aligned lobs 5, 9. The wedge has abutments 4g, 4e and the tongue 7 has beads 13 to prevent inadvertant withdrawal of the wedge.
