Abstract

In Examples I, II, IV-VI, VIII and IX, diazonium salts of formula <FORM:1082889/C4-C5/1> wherein X is an anion, R1 and R3 are alkyl (including unsaturated and substituted analogues), cycloalkyl or aralkyl, or R3 is aryl, -CO-R2 is acyl and -NR4R5 is tertiary amino or a saturated heterocyclic ring are converted to azo-dyestuff derivatives by reaction with 1-phenyl -3-methylpyrazolone-5.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1082889/C2/1> wherein X is an anion, R1 and R3 are alkyl (including unsaturated and substituted analogues), cycloalkyl or aralkyl, or R3 is aryl, -CO-R2 is acyl and -NR4R5 is tertiary amino or a saturated heterocyclic ring. In examples, a number of these compounds are prepared by reduction, followed by diazotization, of the corresponding nitro-precursors.
