Abstract
1,082,708. Valves. PARKER-HANNIFIN CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1966, No. 34992/66. Heading F2V. A valve controlling the flow and exhaust of fluid to and from the opposite ends of a motor 4 comprises a spool valve 21 reciprocable in a bore to control the connection of motor ports 15 to supply and exhaust ports 11, 19. The valve lands have notches 28, 29 to regulate the flow. The two ports 15 are connected to the opposite ends of the motor through check valves 35, 36. The valve 36 co-operates with a seat 34 and has a through port controlled by a pilot valve 41, the valve 36 controlling the flow from the lower end of the motor which, due to the load, may be under a high pressure. When the spool 21 is moved upwards, the supply is connected to the upper port 15 and flow takes place past the valve 35 to the motor. When the pressure rises sufficiently, a piston 45 is moved down to cause a rod 46 to open the pilot valve 41. As the piston 45 moves further down, the rod 46 engages the valve 36 and moves this valve to open a port 40 and allow added flow from the lower end of the motor. The piston parts 47 of piston 45 engage in sleeves 31 to provide a dash-pot effect to prevent chattering.
