Abstract
1,080,456. Extruding. ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd. March 3, 1966 [March 17, 1965], No. 9283/66. Heading B3P. An extrusion billet 17 comprises an annular slug 18 of ductile metal with an end collar 19 and outer and inner copper sheaths 20, 22. The slug 18 is preferably of Zircaloy and the end collar 19 of steel. The sheaths are turned over at the leading ends 21, 28. After heating the billet is inserted in a container 14 and impact extruded through die orifice 23 by punch members 12, 13. An ejector 16 is provided.
