Abstract

1,080,142. Compensation circuit. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. April 22, 1965 [May 5, 1964], No. 17061/65. Heading G5R. In a pulse modulation recording system, i.e. a system in which e.g. binary "1 " is recorded as one cycle of an alternating signal and binary " 0 " is recorded as a cycle of the same frequency but opposite in phase, filter means are provided to compensate for the amplitude and phase distortion in the read-out signal. The compensating arrangements may be in two parts each comprising an emitter follower stage 14, 36 which forms a low impedance driving source for the R.C. filter 20, 38 and a grounded base stage 28, 40 which forms a low impedance termination for the filter. Each part of the arrangement compensates for the distortion produced in a different frequency band of the read-out signal.
