Abstract

1,079,255. Forging. CENTRALNE LABORATORIUM OBROBKI PLASTYCZNEJ. Sept. 30, 1964 [Oct. 2, 1963 (2)], No. 39757/64. Heading B3H. An upsetting machine, particularly for forging crankshafts, has lower and upper clamping die carriers 6, 7, 8 connected to relatively movable members 1, 5 whereby as the members move towards each other, the die carriers engage each other and then move in unison transversely of the movement of the members. The machine head 1 is operated by a press slide and toggle linkage 3 causes the top dies to close upon the workpiece and then moves the dies inwardly to upset the workpiece. The upper and lower die carriers have intorengaging portions such as 8a. A vertical tool 15 forces the central portion of the workpiece downwardly against a die 14 to form the crank pin. The dies are subsequently retracted to engage stop 11 by a pneumatic motor 10. In another embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the central tools 14, 15 are omitted. In further embodiments, Figs. 5, 11, 12 (not shown) the bottom dies are also mounted on pivoted links.
