Abstract
1,077,824. Reciprocating generators. MULLARD Ltd. Aug. 31, 1964, No. 35519/64. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G1] A reciprocating generator for measuring linear velocity comprises a cylindrical magnet assembly magnetized radially to produce a substantially uniform field over its length, and a coil 7 (Fig. 2) assembled round the magnet and attached to a moving member 9, whereby the voltage output from the coil is proportional to the speed of movement. The cylindrical assembly consists of a stack of similar ferrite permanent magnet rings 2 of like polarity . threaded on to a soft iron core 1. The moving coil 7 may alternatively be located between the magnet rings and the core. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown), two permanent magnets M1, M2 are located at the ends of a soft iron cylindrical core to produce the radial magnetic field.
