Abstract

1,077,485. Dynamo-electric machines having air-gap partitions. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. June 16, 1965 [June 19, 1964], No. 25540/65. Heading H2A. In a rotational dynamo-electric machine having within a casing 1 a rotor 14 and a laminated wound stator each presenting to the other a substantially cylindrical surface between which is provided a cylindrical sealing sleeve 22, such sleeve is plastically deformed to provide radially outward projections 34 which centre the sleeve by engaging the stator laminations 11 and increase its strength against inward deformation by coolant preferably gaseous when flowing through passages 12 in the laminations 11, and the sleeve is connected rigidly to a member 2 at one end of the casing 1 and is axially slidable relative to a member 3 at the other end of the casing in order to permit slight expansion of the sleeve. The latter connection 25 includes a sealing bellows 26, and the projections 34 shown are continuous helical ribs but in modifications may be longitudinal or corrugated, straight or inclined, continuous or interrupted, ribs, or alternatively spherical or cruciform protuberances. A compressor rotor 20 is rigidly secured to the rotor shaft 13.
