Abstract

1,077,101. Wrapping tow bales. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 1, 1964 [July 1, 1963], No. 27140/64. Heading B8C. A rectangular bale of tow filaments, laid in separate layers of zig-zag pattern, is wrapped in a series of laminated wrappers each comprising aluminium foil coated on each side with a polyolefin film, and having also an outer layer of paper. There may in addition be an inner layer of paper. The wrappers are applied (Fig. 1, not shown) to the top and one to the bottom of the bale, over a similar wrapper (9) layed around the sides and ends of the bale. The upper and lower wrappers are reinforced in places by burlap (3). Corrugated fibreboard outer pads (8) are then applied to the top and bottom, and a layer of double-wall corrugated fibreboard (10) is applied around the sides and ends before the bale is bound by bands or straps (11) of metal, leather or plastic.
