Abstract

1,076,956. Sausage dividing and twisting machines. J. C. WETTER & CO. Ltd. June 8, 1966 [Nov. 15, 1965], No. 48486/65. Heading A2B. A sausage dividing and twisting machine comprises a nozzle 10 about which the sausage casing to be filled is pleated, which nozzle 10 is surrounded by a coaxial cylinder 19 in the inside of which several arms or levers 22 are pivotally mounted around the nozzle 10. The levers 22 are surrounded by spring bracelet 29 such that they are spring loaded towards the nozzle axis so that the shoes 25 of levers 22 press against the casing at the discharge end of the nozzle, to allow the casing to slide longitudinally of the nozzle as it is being filled but to prevent the sausage casing twisting around the nozzle when the nozzle is rotated. The position of bracelet 29 is manually adjustable along the length of the levers 22. Screw means 38 are provided for acting on the levers 22 to lift them from the discharge end of nozzle 10. The levers may be weighted at 4. The machine may comprise a shoot (41) (Fig. 1, not shown) for receiving the filled sausage casing and spring loaded roller (42) for holding the filled casing when the twisting operation is effected. The shoot (41) and roller (42) are mounted such that they can be swung away from the nozzle 10 to allow a casing to be fitted around nozzle 10.
