Abstract

1,075,679. Dispensing container for tablets etc.; packages. CIBA Ltd. Dec. 24, 1963 [Nov. 12, 1963], No. 50993/63. Headings B8C and B8P. A disc-shaped, press-out package 1 for tablets and the like, which have to be taken at specified intervals during a determined cycle of treatment, comprises an upper sheet or package section 2 made of non-rigid tear-resistant transparent material containing pockets 3 in concentric rows for the tablets 4 and a backing 5 of thin aluminium foil. The tablets are extracted by pressing pockets 3 through apertures 12 of the base 9; the aluminium foil 5 tears and the tablet drops out. The package section, which is provided with peripheral notches 6, a central aperture 7 and concentrically arranged apertures 8 is rigidly attached to the base 9 of the dispenser. The cam 10 prevents vertical movement and studs 11 engage the peripheral notches to prevent circular movement of the package section relative to the base. The apertures 12 in the base correspond in number, shape and position to the pockets 3 of the package section. The base of the package has a central boss 13, with undercut 13a, and concentrically arranged studs 14 which engage apertures 7 and 8 respectively of the package section. A dial 15, with concentrically arranged holes 16, rests on the undercut 13a and can be turned on the boss. The dial is inscribed with the days of the week arranged radially at regular intervals. The inscriptions are spaced so that the tablet pockets lie on the radial extensions of the requisite number of successive days when a specific day is set at the red mark M on the surface of the package section. The day on which the dosage is to commence is then automatically in position opposite the first tablet pocket (counting clockwise). The dial is then pressed down below the undercut 13a and the studs 14 of the base engage the holes 16 in the dial and lock it. It is then possible to see on which days a tablet has to be taken. Reliable control is also exercised as if a tablet is forgotten the oversight is detected by the fact that the pocket for a particular day is still intact.
