Abstract

1,075,477. Distributing sand on roads. C. DOLZA and S. GROSSO. Aug. 25, 1964 [Aug. 27, 1963], No. 34819/64. Heading B8S. In distributing sand on the road a plurality of hoppers 1 are employed positioned upon a truck, the material being discharged through a valve 6 on to endless belt 18 which delivers the material into distributing hopper (21) (Fig. 1, not shown), the level of which is maintained constant. Valve 6, Fig. 2.-Each hopper 1 is divided into two compartments separated by a partition 4 and material is discharged therefrom by a frame 8 which rests on rubber blocks 12 and is reciprocated by a wheel (13) (Fig. 1, not shown) which is rotated by motor (14), the wheel being carried by lever (16) pivoted at (16a) so that the oscillation of the wheel (13) is transmitted as a horizontal longitudinal reciprocation of frame 8. Additionally a sliding frame 9 is provided which is carried by frame 8 and is displaced relative to frame 8 by handle 10 to control the amount of discharge through frame 8. The vibration also shakes the hoppers. Hopper 21 (Fig. 4, not shown).-The hopper is carried by frame (22) movably sprung at (23) and its movement is connected by levers (25) and (26) to wheel (13) so that when an excess of material is delivered into hopper (21), frame (22) is depressed, and the movement is transmitted to the levers (25) and (26) to reduce the speed of motor (14) which is thereby declutched and the feed of material to hopper (21) is stopped.
