Abstract

An open-gear lubricant consists essentially, in per cent by weight, of creosote, 0.5-5.0; wool grease, 1.0-15; microcrystalline petroleum wax, 1.0-7.5; the balance being petroleum bitumen of pen (25 DEG C.) 10-200 mm/10. The lubricant may be brushed hot or when fluxed e.g. with coal tar naphtha. It may be used as an aerosol spray with, e.g. Freon 12 (Registered Trade Mark) as propellant, and preferably diluted with methylene chloride with or without naphtha.ALSO:An open-gear lubricant consists essentially, in per cent by weight, of creosote, 0.5-5.0; wool grease, 1.0-15; microcrystalline petroleum wax, 1.0-7.5; the balance being petroleum bitumen of pen (25 DEG C.) 10-200 mm./10.
