Abstract

A composition suitable for lubricating synthetic segmented elastomeric copolymer threads comprises polyethylene glycol (400) monooleate, glycerol mono-oleate and polyethylene with or without mineral oil.ALSO:Threads made from synthetic segmented elastomeric copolymers are lubricated by treating them with a synthetic wax composition which is a polymer of ethylene, a paraffin wax or a partial ester of a polyhydric compound and a fatty acid containing at least 12 carbon atoms in the molecule e.g. penta-erythritol distearate, polyethylene glycol mono-stearate preferably having a molecular weight of 350 and glycerol mono-stearate and the corresponding laurates. The synthetic wax composition may be applied to the threads as an aqueous emulsion or as a dispersion in a textile oil, e.g. a composition comprising polyethylene glycol (400) mono-oleate, glycerol mono-oleate, a mineral oil and polyethylene, after they are spun. The threads may be made from an adipic acid-ethylene glycol-propylene glycol polyester reacted with an excess of diphenyl methane diisocyanate and extruded into aqueous ethylene diamine.
