Abstract

1,075,057. Regenerative heat exchangers. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. Sept. 18, 1964 [Sept. 19, 1963], No. 38185/64. Heading F4K. A regenerative heat exchanger comprises a rotatably mounted cylindrical rotor made up of a plurality of open-ended sector-shaped compartments, the compartments being filled with a heat-absorbent material 20 to which a heating gas passing through aperture 42 gives up its heat, and in turn heats up a cooler gas passing through aperture 44, the compartments also being linked by means (56), Fig. 3 (not shown), which permit individual axial movement. Fixed annular tracks 28 and 26 are positioned radially inside and outside the rotor walls to be engaged by wheels or rollers 22. An annular driving rack comprising arcuate sections (32), Fig. 2 (not shown), fixed to each compartment are engaged by a pinion gear of drive means 30. The compartments may be made from upper and lower modules 18 and 10, module 18 being of lighter gauge metal. The composite compartments are arranged between stationary upper and lower end plates 38 and 34, the upper end plate being supported by vertical risers 35 and a tubular support 68.
