Abstract
1,073,992. Chart holders. DECCA Ltd. Dec. 1, 1965 [Jan. 6, 1965], No. 617/65. Heading G5G. In apparatus for use in navigation systems comprising a chart 10 wound on to spools 11, 12 by a motor (not shown) in response to position indicating signals, and a solenoid-operated stylus (13) (Fig. 2, not shown) movable together with a cursor (42) transversely of the chart by a motor in response to other signals, the chart is releasably attached at one end to a flexible strip 61 which when wound up is located in a groove 64. When a chart is completely wound on to spool 11, the chart is disconnected from the strip and that spool is removed from the apparatus and is replaced by another spool carrying a chart which is then attached to the strip and wound on to the spool 12 prior to being used. Attachment of the chart and strip may be effected by means of an adhesive strip, hook and eye, or by magnetic means. In an alternative arrangement the flexible strip may be of substantially the same width as the chart.
