Abstract

1,073,654. Etching. KALLE A.G. Jan. 29, 1965 [Jan. 30, 1964), No. 4044/65. Heading B6J. On the lid (1) of a machine for etching printing-plates is permanently mounted a pivoted plate support (2) provided with guide slots (3) for clamping jaws (4). A base; frame (5), is detachably secured to the support, (2), portions, (7) co-operating with the jaws. In operation, the frame (5) is secured to the support during a period in which several plates or groups of plates are etched in succession, the machine, being switched off between each etching operation. The frame (5) is providedwith a notch (9) and a pin (8). A plate-holding frame (10) is secured to the frame (5) by means of a loop (14) and a locking lever (15) engaging the pin and notch respectively. The frame (10) has a grid (11) formed of transverse bars (12), a longitudinal bar (13), and sides shaped to fit over the sides of the frame (5). The frames (5, 10), can be attached together and detached rapidly. The frame (10) is provided with clamps (16), by means of which plates (17) can be secured to the bars (12), two clamps being used, for each plate. In operation, while a plate, or group of plates is being etched; a further plate or group of plates is secured to a second frame (5). When, the machine is stopped the lid is opened, the frame (5) removed and the second frame (5) secured. During the next etching cycle, the etched plates. are removed from the first frame (5) and fresh plates secured thereto.
