Abstract

1,072,305. Pneumatic tyres. MICHELIN & CIE (COMPAGNIE GENERALE DES ETABLISSEMENTS MICHELIN). Oct. 12, 1965 [Oct. 14, 1964], No. 43266/65. Heading B7C. To prevent separation of the radial cords of a carcass ply 2 there are provided one or more plies 8 of " binding " parallel cords crossing the radial cords and extending between, but not into, the adjacent bead 4 and tread reinforcement 5. The " binding " cords make an equal and opposite angle of between 30 and 70 degrees, preferably 45 degrees, with the radial cords and are more widely spaced than the radial cords. The ply 2 may have plies 8 on either or both sides thereof, and may be separated from adjacent plies 8 by elastomeric material having a modulus of elasticity less than that of the ordinary carcass rubber.
