Abstract

1,071,952. Variable speed gear. TESLA, NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 31, 1963], No. 30908/64. Heading F2D. In a variable-speed friction gear for a gramophone wherein a rubber-rimmed friction idler 4 is urged by a spring 7 into engagement with a stepped driving spindle 5 and turntable rim 6, the idler is freely rotatable on a spindle 2 connected by a rubber vibration damper 3 to a lever 1 which pivots about the rod 11 for ratio shift. The arrangement is such that the diameter of a circle through the points of contact of the idler 4 with the steps of the spindle 5 is equal to the diameter of the circle on which the vibration damper 3 moves during ratio shift whereby the spindle 2 is mounted parallel to the axis of rotation of the turntable 6. Movement of the lever 1 is effected by vertical movement of a rod 8.
