A unitary transparency frame of plastics material includes a receiving slot 4, the two halves of the frame being adapted to be spread apart near the receiving slot to facilitate the insertion of a transparency. The transparency is locked in position by means of a deformation in at least one half of the frame. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 a limiting cam 6 or (6') is provided in each frame half 5 or (5') to register with a corresponding groove (7') or 7 in the other half. The two halves of the frame are spread apart by applying oppositely directed forces on the side edges of the frame adjacent the slot 4 in order to separate the cams 6, (6'). Each frame half 5, (5') may be provided with two bores adjacent the slot 4 so that the halves may be spread apart by mandrels passing through these bores to engage the inside surface of the opposing frame half. These bores are arranged in the halves 5 (5') so that the mandrels act as guide pins for the transparency. In the embodiment of Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown) the boundary (35) of the receiving pocket (36) is continued into the receiving slot (34) by means of webs (37), (38). When pressure is applied as shown in Fig. 13 the webs provide a lever action so that the receiving slot is widened. The frame may be provided with two receiving slots at opposite ends thereof. In a further embodiment the transparency is locked in position by means of central dead-ended holes adjacent the receiving slot to which are applied punches in order to weld the two halves together or merely to deform the frame.
