Abstract

An electrode forming a weld metal of composition 70% nickel, 15% chromium, 15% iron, molybdenum, niobium and manganese, comprises a nickel core and a flux coating containing the other metals. The coating may comprise:-15-30% alkaline earth carbonate, e.g. calcium carbonate 10-25% alkaline earth halide, e.g. fluorspar 24% chromium 6-36% iron, molybdenum, niobium and manganese 0.5-2% sodium alginate and a silicate binder, or alternatively 15-30% alkaline earth carbonate, e.g. calcium carbonate 10-25% alkaline earth halide, e.g. fluorspar 39% ferro-chromium 11-36% ferro-molybdenum, ferro-niobium, ferro-manganese and a silicate binder.
