Abstract

1,069,568. Photographic process. RANK XEROX Ltd. Sept. 16, 1964 [Sept. 19, 1963], No. 37809/64. Headings G2C and G2H. Photographic images are prepared by imagewise exposing a layer of ZnO in a film forming organic compound to U. V. radiation having a wavelength in the range 350-380 mÁ, whereby the ZnO photo-catalyses an imagewise irreversible chemical change in the layer, and developing the latent image thus formed. The chemical change may result in a change in dye absorbtion or electrical conductivity in the exposed areas and the latent image may be developed by treatment with a dye solution, electrolytically, or by charging the layer and dusting it with a toner power. The latent image may be fixed by coating the layer with a solution of a compound which absorbs U.V. light. Specified film forming compounds are alkyd resins, polyvinyl acetate and linear polyesters.
