Abstract
1,068,403. Ion exchange. PERMUTIT CO. Ltd. April 19, 1966 [April 20, 1965], No. 16569/65. Heading B1J. Liquid for treatment is supplied to ionexchange bed by pipe 12 flows down through space 4 and up through space 3 for discharge through nipe 8. The bed is backwashed by water and regenerant through pipe 14 and the bed assures position shown in Fig. 2 with liquid leaving through pipe 9. The bed may be rinsed in the same direction as regeneration with a small amount of rinsing in the opposite direction to return the bed to the position of Fig. 2. A conical insert 17 obviates dead-space -the bottom of the bed.
