1,067,246. Measuring temperature-electrically. SIEMENS-ELECTROGERATE G.m.b.H. May 15, 1964 [May 29, 1963] No 20460/64. Heading G1N. [Also in Division G3] An electrical apparatus for measuring the mean temperature and thereby the heat content of a liquid in a tank 1 comprises a number of serially connected temperature sensitive resistors 4-7 arranged throughout the height of the tank 1, the resistors being connected to source 15 of constant voltage and to a tapped potentiometer 12, a tapping 13 on which potentiometer supplies an indicating device such as a glow tube 14, the amount of illumination in the tube indicating the heat content of the liquid. The resistors 4-7 may be either of the negative or positive temperature coefficient type and may also be semi-conductor devices. Fixed resistors 8-11 may be associated with the resistors 4-7 to linearise the indication in the glow tube 14. Alternatively the indicator may be of the kind having a rotatable element rotation of which is caused by a bi-metal element heated by a coil supplied from the potentiometer 12.
