Abstract

1,066,597. Disc brakes. BENDIX CORPORApril 30, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No. 18061/64. Heading F2E. A disc brake has a floating actuator means provided by the parts 24, 26, the former including an hydraulic actuator 30, 32, the means being slidably mounted in slots in the upstanding arms 20, 22, of a U-shaped fixed support, flanges 46, 48 on these arms providing guide surfaces engaging slots in the backing plate 56 of the directly actuated pad 54. When the top of the disc 12 moves leftwards in Fig. 3 and the brake is applied, pad 54 abuts arm 20 to transmit its drag force thereto, and a clearance is established between it and the face of arm 22, while the drag on pad 64, which is secured to the part 26, is transmitted through the arm 22 of the stationary member. Springs 45 are provided between the part 26 and the arms 20, 22 to prevent rattle.
