Abstract
1,066,202. Rotary regenerative heat exchangers. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. March 19, 1965 [March 20, 1964], No. 11726/65. Heading F4K. A rotary regenerative heat exchanger comprises a casing (20) around a heat exchange mass 28 arranged to permit axial flow of the heat exchange fluids therein as well as radial flow of the fluids in an intermediate zone 16 between the ends of the mass. The fluids are supplied and withdrawn through ducts (not shown) at the ends and through ports (26) opposite the intermediate zone 16, which ducts and ports are rotatable relative to the heat exchange mass. Conventional sector plates 22 are interconnected at opposite ends of the easing by axial sealing means 24. The heat exchange mass comprises radially extending plates 14 extending from a hub 10 and concentric plates 18 arranged above and below the intermediate zone. The plates 14 may be corrugated with the corrugation of adjacent plates crossed, or plates spaced by punched out projections or tabs, or perforated plates, expanded metal or wire netting.
