Abstract

1,065,512. Moulding pies. J. J. ZONES. Feb. 23, 1965, No. 7750/65. Heading B5A. Pies are made by feeding a continuous sheet of dough on to a series of moulds carried by an endless belt, each of which moulds comprises a front plate 42, carrying two mould cavities (44), hinged to a rear plate (56) carrying parts which co-operate with the peripheries of said mould cavities. The sheet is first divided by passage between a spring biased roller arrangement 106 and blades (not shown) carried between the moulds, after which filling material is deposited into the mould cavities 44 by a dispenser 30. Plates 56 are then pivoted into overlying engagement with plates 42 by cam mechanisms 64, 80 and the two plates pressed firmly together by the subsequent passage between a lower wheel (not shown) and a spring biased upper wheel 90. The overlapped sheets of dough are then pressed together about the peripheries of the mould cavities to form filled closed pies which are simultaneously severed from the excess dough. The plates are finally re-opened by a second cam means (not shown) and the pies removed in a suitable manner.
