Abstract

1,065,141. Wrenches. N. DE BOLOTOFF. April 2, 1965 [April 2, 1964], No. 13664/64. Heading B4W. A torque limiting wrench comprises a body 1, a handle 2 connected to the body, a spring-loaded alignment rod 4 extending through the handle and into the body, a driving lever 18 mounted in the body on a pivot 19 and having one end projecting from the body, the projecting end being provided with a driving square 21 attachable to a nut or bolt to be tightened, a tension link 12 pivotally connected at 14 with the interior of the body and at 13 with the end of the alignment rod 4 and a compression link 15 pivotally mounted at 16 on the tension link and having a recess 17 engageable with the end of the driving lever within the body. The rod 4 is surrounded by a coil spring 5 bearing between a stop 6 secured to the rod and a spring adjuster 7 which is screwed into the handle so that its position can be adjusted. The spring is surrounded by an indicating sleeve 8 axially displaceable in the sleeve in accordance with the setting of the spring adjuster, the sleeve being provided with graduations visible through a slot 9.
